Synopsis
Out of My Mind (2024) is a family drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Amber Sealey and based on Sharon Draper's bestselling novel. Newcomer Phoebe-Rae Taylor plays Melody Brooks — a sixth grader with cerebral palsy who is non-verbal, uses a wheelchair, and thinks faster than most people in the room.
Nobody at school sees that until a young teacher decides to look closer. Melody gets pulled into mainstream classes and then onto an academic quiz team, navigating a world that keeps underestimating her. Rosemarie DeWitt and Luke Kirby play her parents — people who long ago learned to listen past the silence; it's everyone else who struggles. The film doesn't soften Melody into a symbol: she gets angry, jealous, and wrong, which is exactly what makes her worth watching.
