Synopsis
The Quiller Memorandum (1966) is a British Cold War spy thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Playwright Harold Pinter wrote the screenplay, Michael Anderson directed, and the story comes from Elleston Trevor's novel The Berlin Memorandum.
West Berlin, early sixties. With two British intelligence agents already dead, a lone operative named Quiller (George Segal) is dropped into the city to do one thing: locate the base of a clandestine neo-Nazi network called Phoenix. Quiller trusts no one — not the enemy, not his own side. His opposite number, Oktober, is played by Max von Sydow as a man whose calm politeness is exactly what makes him frightening. Alec Guinness lends a dry detachment as Quiller's handler, while Senta Berger threads a note of doubt through the whole affair.
This is espionage stripped of car chases and gadgets — the tension sits in conversations, silences and what goes unsaid, pure Pinter. For viewers who like their thrillers patient, talky and steeped in Cold War unease. Stream The Quiller Memorandum (1966) online on iFILM.
