Synopsis

Helen Mirren and Donald Sutherland carry the whole picture between them, their bickering and tenderness landing like fifty real years of marriage. Every roadside stop pulls up an old quarrel or a half-forgotten joy.
This was Italian director Virzì's first English-language feature, adapted from Michael Zadoorian's novel. It walks a fine line between gentle comedy and a hard, clear-eyed look at leaving on your own terms, with none of the usual gloss about graceful aging.
