A Whole Life Ahead (Tutta la vita davanti, 2008) — watch online on iFILM this Italian comedy-drama directed by Paolo Virzì. Philosophy graduate Marta has her degree, her ideas, and absolutely no job offers. A chance encounter leads her not to a career but to a telemarketing floor, where enthusiasm is mandatory and the pay is built on commissions that never quite add up.
The call centre runs on corporate rituals: motivational slogans, team-building exercises, relentlessly tracked targets. Marta watches colleagues crack under the pressure — the delusional supervisor Daniela, the quietly unraveling Lucio, the boss Claudio who confuses authority with charm. Isabella Ragonese plays Marta with a restraint that keeps the film from tipping into easy satire or self-pity.
Virzì made this in 2008, quietly diagnosing precarious employment and the gap between education and economic reality long before either became a mainstream cultural conversation. It lands as both sharp comedy and something harder to shake. Stream A Whole Life Ahead (2008) online on iFILM.
