Synopsis
The Great Gilly Hopkins (2015) is a family drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Stephen Herek and adapted from Katherine Paterson's Newbery Medal-winning novel. Sophie Nélisse plays eleven-year-old Gilly, a kid who has cycled through enough foster homes to stop counting.
Gilly's plan is simple: be difficult enough that no one keeps her, then eventually track down the mother who gave her up. What she doesn't count on is Maime Trotter, played by Kathy Bates with the kind of stubborn warmth that doesn't announce itself. Glenn Close and Octavia Spencer round out the cast in smaller roles that carry weight.
