Synopsis
James White (2015) is an independent American drama by Josh Mond you can watch online on iFILM. The title character is a New Yorker in his twenties, drifting through late nights and hangovers with no plan in sight. Then his mother's illness takes a hard turn.
Christopher Abbott plays James as someone who runs from anything difficult for as long as running is still an option. Cynthia Nixon, as his sick mother, anchors the back half of the film — their two-handed scenes carry almost the whole story, no twists, just the truth of how two people talk when time is short. Rapper Kid Cudi shows up as the one friend who hasn't walked away.
Mond made a raw, close-up film about growing up off schedule, through loss rather than triumph. The camera rarely leaves James's face, and there's nowhere to hide from it. If you want a quiet, honest drama with no comforting lies, stream James White (2015) online on iFILM.
