About

Synopsis

"Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius" (2004) is a biographical sports drama you can watch online on iFILM, with James Caviezel in the title role. Director Rowdy Herrington tells the story of the only golfer to win all four major championships in a single year — who then walked away from competition at twenty-eight.

Jones played his entire career as an amateur. He was a practising lawyer; golf was something he fit around his caseload. He won thirteen majors that way, while a degenerative spinal condition quietly worked against him throughout. Claire Forlani plays his wife Mary, and the film gives their relationship more weight than most sports biopics manage. Jeremy Northam and Malcolm McDowell round out the period without turning it into a costume parade.

The unusual thing here is the ending. Jones quit at the top, voluntarily, and the film treats that choice as the real subject — not the victories. Stream "Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius" (2004) on iFILM.
