Synopsis

Seven months pass and the case has gone nowhere. So Mildred rents three rundown billboards on the edge of town and paints a blunt question aimed straight at police chief Willoughby (Woody Harrelson). The whole town turns on her. Then Officer Dixon (Sam Rockwell) wades in — a grown mama's boy quick with his fists and his bigotry. What had been quiet small-town life curdles into a long personal war where everyone carries their own grief and their own version of right.
McDonagh writes dialogue like the playwright he is: funny and brutal in the same breath. The film won two Academy Awards, for McDormand and Rockwell.
