Synopsis
Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar (2021) is a gloriously weird comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo — who also wrote the script — play two inseparable Midwestern best friends leaving home for the first time to vacation in a sunny Florida beach town.
What starts as a quiet holiday turns into a collision with a full-blown supervillain plot: a mysterious woman in white (also Wiig) wants to wipe out the entire town using an engineered mosquito swarm. Jamie Dornan shows up as a conflicted henchman who delivers an earnest solo ballad on the beach — one of the most unexpectedly funny sequences in recent comedy. Director Josh Greenbaum keeps the absurdity at full tilt without winking too hard at the camera. If you're looking for something genuinely odd and generous-spirited, this one delivers.
