Synopsis
Love Me Instead (Beni Çok Sev, 2021) is a Turkish drama you can watch online on iFILM. Director Mehmet Ada Öztekin follows a prisoner, escorted by a ward, who is allowed back to his hometown for one reason: to find his young daughter and make amends before it is too late.
The journey home keeps turning up things he was not ready for. What the father pictured during his years inside and what actually waits for him drift further apart at every stop along the road. Slowly the film unpacks why he ended up behind bars and what really became of the family he left.
Öztekin is the same filmmaker behind Miracle in Cell No. 7, and he presses on the identical nerve here: a bond between parent and child severed by circumstance.
