10th & Wolf

10th & Wolf (2006) is Bobby Moresco's crime drama, available to watch online on iFILM. Tommy Shellace grew up in a mob-run corner of Philadelphia, watched his father get killed, and fled the family business by enlisting — but the old neighborhood has a long reach, even out in the desert.

Back from the Gulf War, Tommy (James Marsden) is staring down a court-martial when the FBI dangles a deal: come home and inform on the very men who raised him. Waiting on his street are his hot-headed younger brother Vincent (Brad Renfro) and cousin Joey (Giovanni Ribisi), both buried deep in the local crew's affairs. Every move Tommy makes now is a choice between the badge and blood, and a single slip puts someone in the ground.

Moresco wrote the script loosely from a true story, two years after taking home an Oscar for the Crash screenplay. It's a hard, talky gangster picture in the Donnie Brasco mold, stacked with heavyweight character actors — Dennis Hopper, Brian Dennehy and Val Kilmer turn up in supporting turns.
