Sundown

Sundown (2022) is a drama directed by Michel Franco that you can watch online on iFILM. Tim Roth and Charlotte Gainsbourg play wealthy British siblings on holiday in Acapulco — sun, cocktails, the particular boredom of people with nothing they need to do. Then a family emergency calls them home. One of them just doesn't go.

Franco strips the film down to behavior rather than explanation. Roth's character checks into a cheaper hotel, buys beer, sits on the beach, and offers no reason to anyone, including us. The film withholds its logic until late and even then doesn't package it neatly. Shot on location in Acapulco with Mexican co-production, Sundown is closer to Antonioni than to a standard psychological thriller — the kind of movie where what a character refuses to say is the whole point.
