Synopsis
The Vikings (1958) is a Hollywood adventure epic directed by Richard Fleischer that you can watch online on iFILM. Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis star as rival half-brothers who despise each other long before they find out they share a father. The film was shot on location in Norway and Croatia — real fjords, real longships, no studio approximations.
Norse chieftain Ragnar raids the English coast. His heir Einar is everything a Viking should be: violent, fearless and impossible to reason with. The slave Eric is his opposite — smarter, more calculating. Both want the same Welsh princess, Morgana, taken captive in a raid. What neither knows until the end is that their blood feud is literally that.
Kirk Douglas produced the film himself; it was among the more expensive American productions of its era and made its money back decisively. Watching it now, the scale holds up — this is big-canvas adventure made with real locations and genuine physical commitment, the kind of spectacle that a soundstage couldn't fake.
