10 Rillington Place

What he actually does is methodical and lethal. When Evans' wife Beryl is found dead, Christie manoeuvres the investigation so completely that Evans — barely literate, easily confused — confesses to a murder he did not commit.

Fleischer deliberately strips out any thriller mechanics: you know who the killer is from the opening minutes, and that foreknowledge makes every scene feel like watching a slow-motion catastrophe with no way to stop it.
