Synopsis
Collision Earth (2011) is a sci-fi disaster movie from Paul Ziller, available to watch online on iFILM. A massive solar flare knocks Mercury out of its orbit and sends the planet hurtling straight toward Earth.
A disgraced scientist (Kirk Acevedo) had warned this could happen, and now he's the only one who can finish the work that might stop it. While astronauts sit stranded in orbit amid the debris, the clock on the ground runs down to hours. This is a Syfy Channel TV movie: the budget is modest, the science is loose, and the effects show their age. What it has going for it is pace — the plot barrels from one catastrophe to the next without a breather. Easy genre filler for an evening, aimed at fans of end-of-the-world flicks.
