Synopsis
"The Eternal Zero" (永遠の0, 2013) is a Japanese war drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Takashi Yamazaki and adapted from Naoki Hyakuta's bestselling novel.
Kentaro failed his bar exam and doesn't know what to do next. With his sister, he starts digging into their biological grandfather Kyuzo — a kamikaze pilot who died near the end of World War II. His surviving comrades tell contradictory stories. Some called him a coward. Others say he was the finest pilot in the squadron. The truth is harder to hold.
The film runs two timelines in parallel: the present-day search and Kyuzo's wartime years. Junichi Okada plays the pilot — composed, without sentiment. At 144 minutes it earns the runtime.
