Synopsis
Daddy Longlegs (2010) is a New York indie drama you can watch online on iFILM — an early feature from Benny and Josh Safdie, made years before Good Time and Uncut Gems.
Lenny (Ronald Bronshtein) is 34, slightly grey, and basically directionless. Once a year he picks up his two sons — Sage, 9, and Frey, 7 — and they squeeze into his cramped midtown studio for two weeks. He can't decide whether to be their father or their friend, and the boys seem to have already worked out that he's neither. A trip upstate doesn't go wrong through any single disaster; it just unravels the way things do around Lenny. The film was shot on 16mm with non-professional actors: Sage and Frey are played by Lee Ranaldo's actual sons, and the looseness is completely intentional. It's a film about a man who loves his kids but hasn't figured out how to show up for them. Stream Daddy Longlegs online on iFILM.
