Synopsis
Beyond a Reasonable Doubt (1956) is Fritz Lang's stark film noir, free to watch online on iFILM. A newspaper publisher sets out to prove that circumstantial evidence can send an innocent man to the chair.
Aspiring novelist Tom Garrett agrees to be the guinea pig. He plants clues pointing to himself in the murder of a nightclub dancer, planning to spring the proof of the setup once the verdict lands and leave the hard-nosed DA humiliated. The scheme holds — right up to the moment the one man who can clear him drops out of the picture. Dana Andrews plays Tom, Joan Fontaine his fiancée, Sidney Blackmer her publisher father.
This was Lang's final American film, and he pushes his lifelong obsession — a man chained to the machinery of justice — toward a cold, gut-punch reversal. Eighty minutes, not a wasted frame. If you like classic noir built on a legal trap, don't skip it. Stream Beyond a Reasonable Doubt (1956) online on iFILM.
