Synopsis
Gas Food Lodging (1992) is an American indie drama you can watch online on iFILM, written and directed by Allison Anders. Nora — played by Brooke Adams — works double shifts at a truck-stop diner in a small New Mexico town and raises two teenage daughters alone. No safety net. No partner.
Younger daughter Shade (Fairuza Balk) spends every free afternoon at the local cinema watching Spanish-language films, looking for something she can't name. Older sister Trudi (Ione Skye) has already dropped out of school and is heading somewhere her mother can't follow. When Trudi becomes pregnant and the long-absent father suddenly reappears, all three have to figure out what they actually want from each other — and whether the word "family" still means anything.
Anders drew heavily from her own upbringing for the script, and the film knows details about this kind of life that studio pictures don't bother with. Stream Gas Food Lodging (1992) online on iFILM.
