Synopsis
Don't. Get. Out! (Steig. Nicht. Aus!, 2018) is a German thriller from Christian Alvart you can watch online on iFILM. Berlin property developer Karl is driving his kids to school when a stranger calls: there's a bomb under the seats, and the moment anyone stands up, it goes off.
The demand is simple and brutal — wire a large sum or the car explodes with the children inside. Pinned to the driver's seat, Karl follows the blackmailer's route and deadline while each call makes it plainer that this prosperous-looking businessman has left a trail of people with reasons to hate him. Wotan Wilke Möhring carries almost the entire film without leaving the car, as a countdown races across morning Berlin.
Alvart's claustrophobic remake of the Spanish film El desconocido (2015) puts the suspense less in the bomb than in the question of who is taking revenge, and why. Tense and quick on its feet across the full 109 minutes. Stream Don't. Get. Out! (2018) online on iFILM.
