Cut Off

Cut Off (Abgeschnitten, 2018) is a German crime-horror thriller directed by Christian Alvart, adapted from Sebastian Fitzek's novel, and available to watch online on iFILM. Forensic pathologist Paul Herzfeld opens a badly mutilated body and finds a capsule inside the skull. Inside it: a phone number. He calls. The voice on the line tells him his daughter has been taken — and sends him to the next body, waiting on the island of Helgoland, which a storm has cut off entirely from the mainland. No ferries, no signals, no backup. The island holds another corpse. Another clue buried inside. The killer has built a puzzle out of the dead, and Herzfeld is the only player.
