Synopsis
Ready to Rumble (2000) is a wrestling comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Brian Robbins and aimed straight at anyone who grew up screaming at pay-per-view main events.
Gordie (David Arquette) and Sean (Scott Caan) pump septic tanks in a nowhere town and live for one thing: the matches of their idol, champion Jimmy King (Oliver Platt). When a scheming promoter rigs a bout and dumps King from the business, the two fans set out to put him back on top. The catch is that King has fallen apart — broke, drunk and abandoned by his family. Getting him title-ready means dragging him off the floor first.
Made at the peak of WCW's run, the movie packs in real wrestlers, with Goldberg, Sting and Randy Savage all turning up, plus Martin Landau as a grizzled old trainer. The humor is crude and proudly dumb, never pretending to be anything but a ride about friendship, fandom and a comeback. Easy fun for fans of late-'90s sports comedies.
