Boccaccio '70

Boccaccio '70 (1962) is the Italian anthology film you can watch online on iFILM. Each segment is its own story with its own leading lady. Fellini's prudish moralist loses his mind over a giant billboard where Anita Ekberg smiles down at him. Visconti's young countess, played by Romy Schneider, settles the score with her cheating aristocrat husband in a way he finds anything but funny. De Sica hands village beauty Sophia Loren to the winner of a carnival raffle. And Monicelli opens the film with newlyweds who simply have nowhere private to be together in cramped Milan.

The four-act run of nearly four hours was carved up by distributors more than once, with Monicelli's part and whole scenes dropped at various points. Together the stories trace a country in motion: from shame toward permissiveness, from the countryside toward the big city.
