Synopsis
Battle for Haditha (2007) is British documentarian Nick Broomfield's war drama, available to watch online on iFILM. He cast real former Marines and Iraqi refugees to rebuild one of the ugliest episodes of the Iraq War.
November 2005, the town of Haditha. A roadside bomb kills a young Marine, and his comrades in Kilo Company answer by clearing the nearest houses with gunfire. The film splits into three viewpoints at once — the two locals paid to plant the device, the Americans drowning in rage and fear, and the family that happened to live next door. Twenty-four people, among them children and the elderly, never see morning.
Broomfield works almost without a script, handheld and raw, and refuses to hand you a single villain; the blame smears across a whole chain of orders and dread. It's a hard sit that lands harder than any action picture precisely because it denies you catharsis. Stream Battle for Haditha (2007) online on iFILM.
