About

Synopsis

Kajaki (2014) is a British war drama directed by Paul Katis that you can watch online on iFILM. Based on what actually happened to a small Royal Marines unit posted near the Kajaki Dam in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in September 2006.

A routine patrol turns into a slow-burning catastrophe when one soldier steps on a buried Soviet mine in a dried riverbed. Getting him out is not the hard part — not triggering the other mines hidden in the same patch of ground is. Every decision carries weight, every move risks another casualty, and the rescue helicopter is still hours away. Mark Stanley and Malachy Kirby anchor the ensemble with performances that never tip into sentiment.

Paul Katis strips the war film down to its rawest elements: no firefights, no villains, just men trying to keep each other alive in an open field with no good options. It is one of the more honest accounts of what modern soldiering actually looks like under pressure. Watch Kajaki (2014) in full online on iFILM.
