Synopsis
My Girl 2 (1994) is a family comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Thirteen-year-old Vada Sultenfuss gets a school assignment over the break: write about someone she admires but has never met. She picks her mother, the woman who died giving birth to her.
The trouble is, Vada barely knows a thing about her, and her father keeps the door to the past firmly shut. So she flies out to sunny Los Angeles to stay with her Uncle Phil and his girlfriend Rose, and starts digging on her own. Every old letter and half-forgotten acquaintance fills in another corner of who her mother really was. Along the way comes a first crush — Nick, a local kid who offers to help with the search.
This sequel to the hit My Girl brings back Anna Chlumsky in the lead, with Dan Aykroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis returning as Vada's father and stepmother. It is warm without being maudlin, old-fashioned and honest about growing up and grief. A solid pick for a family night, especially if you came of age on nineties films.
