Chasers

Chasers (1994) is a road-trip comedy you can watch online on iFILM — the last film Dennis Hopper directed. The job sounds simple: deliver a prisoner to base. It won't be.

Rock Reilly, a Navy shore patrolman who has seen it all, and his rookie partner Eddie Devane, already halfway out the door, draw one final assignment — escorting prisoner Toni Johnson back to base. She deserted, she is gorgeous, and she is sharper than both her handlers put together. She has no intention of arriving, and the whole drive turns into a running battle of wits.

This was Hopper's final outing behind the camera, and he packed it with familiar faces — Gary Busey, Crispin Glover, Dean Stockwell and Seymour Cassel all turn up, Hopper included. Tom Berenger and Erika Eleniak carry the easy back-and-forth at the center. Not major cinema, but a charming piece of mid-90s farce made with no ambition beyond having fun.
