Another Stakeout

Another Stakeout (1993) is an action comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Director John Badham brought back the mismatched detective pair from the original Stakeout — Richard Dreyfuss and Emilio Estevez — and gave them a third wheel they didn't ask for.

The assignment: track down a Mafia trial witness in hiding before the mob finds her first. Not complicated in theory. In practice, the district attorney's office attaches assistant prosecutor Gina, played by Rosie O'Donnell, who arrives with opinions, initiative, and a very large Rottweiler. The three of them crammed into a surveillance cover story is the entire engine of the film, and Badham knows better than to get in the way of it.

This is a sequel that delivers exactly what the first one sold: light-touch banter, escalating slapstick, Dennis Farina as a frustrated mob enforcer on the other side of the equation. No ambitions beyond a good time. Stream Another Stakeout (1993) online on iFILM.
