Synopsis
Lord Jim (1965) is a classic British adventure you can watch online on iFILM. Director Richard Brooks shot this adaptation of Joseph Conrad's 1900 novel on location in Cambodia and Malaysia, with Peter O'Toole carrying the film across 154 minutes alongside James Mason, Eli Wallach, and Jack Hawkins.
Jim is a merchant officer who abandons ship during a storm — 800 pilgrims aboard, all of them surviving without his help. A naval court strips him of his certificate. What follows is years of drifting east, port after port, outrunning a single word he cannot shake: coward. A remote Asian village eventually gives him a chance to lead something real, and he has to decide whether he can trust himself this time.
O'Toole brings his particular mix of romantic recklessness and quiet guilt to the role. The film is not a celebration of heroism — it's a study of what shame does to a man over years, and how long redemption can take to look like itself. Stream Lord Jim (1965) online on iFILM.
