Cool as Ice

Cool as Ice (1991) — watch online on iFILM. Rapper Vanilla Ice plays Johnny, a free-riding musician who rolls into a quiet American suburb on his motorcycle and immediately fixates on the local honor student Kathy. Directed by David Kellogg, the film also features Naomi Campbell and Michael Gross.

Kathy isn't interested in the neon-clad stranger who jumps her fence. Johnny is, predictably, undeterred. While he chases her around town, her father's carefully hidden past catches up with him — two corrupt cops he once crossed are back, and they want their money. The two plot threads collide in a finale that is earnest to the point of being charming.

Produced by Robert Shapiro, Cool as Ice landed in theaters at the height of Vanilla Ice's pop moment and has since settled into cult status as one of the most entertainingly sincere movies of the early nineties. Stream it online on iFILM.
