Synopsis

Tupac: Resurrection (2003) is a documentary you can watch online on iFILM, and it tells the rapper's story entirely in his own words — there's no outside narrator anywhere in it.

The filmmakers assembled the whole narrative from Tupac Shakur's archival interviews, home movies, photographs, and spoken-word poetry, so it plays as if he's speaking from beyond his death. It traces his path from a childhood in Harlem and Baltimore with his Black Panther mother Afeni, through sudden fame, contradiction, prison, and finally the still-unsolved 1996 shooting. His voice carries it — wry, restless, disarmingly candid.

Directed by Lauren Lazin and produced by his mother Afeni Shakur, the film was up for an Academy Award and ranked among the highest-grossing music documentaries of its time. If you only know Tupac from the singles, this is the man behind the legend. Stream Tupac: Resurrection (2003) online on iFILM.
