Unhuman

Unhuman (2022) is an American horror-comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Marcus Dunstan packs seven high schoolers onto one field-trip bus and drives them straight into a nightmare. The trip ends in a crash out in the middle of nowhere, and it takes almost no time to realize the kids are not alone.

Something is hunting them. Outside lurks a pack of savage, not-quite-human attackers, while inside the group old grudges, bullying and plain teenage cruelty are just as ready to boil over. Brianne Tju and Benjamin Wadsworth lead the cast as survivors who have to figure out which of their own they can actually trust, with the clock running down. The movie thrives on that double threat and is in no rush to show its hand.

Dunstan co-wrote the later Saw films, and his knack for being nasty to his characters is all over this one: blood, sharp turns and an ending that flips a lot of what came before. It is a brisk, knowingly silly slasher that runs about ninety minutes and enjoys winking at its own genre. Don't expect high art; do expect momentum and gore. Stream Unhuman (2022) online on iFILM.
