Synopsis
Sadako (貞子, 2019) is a Japanese horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Director Hideo Nakata returns to the curse he himself unleashed two decades earlier.
Mayu Akikawa, a young hospital psychologist, takes on a nameless girl found in the street after a fire her own mother set trying to kill her. The child won't speak, yet objects in her room start drifting on their own. Around the same time Mayu's brother, a vlogger chasing views, breaks into that burned-out apartment rumored to be haunted — and vanishes. Both threads lead toward a name people in Japan would rather not say aloud.
Nakata made the original Ringu back in 1998, and here he settles accounts with his own legacy, betting on slow dread over cheap jump scares. Elaiza Ikeda carries the lead. Running just over ninety minutes, it works as a clean entry point into the Sadako mythology, so you don't need the earlier films to follow it. Stream Sadako (2019) online on iFILM.
