Raymond has kept one thing hidden his entire adult life: he loves theater. The farm is in debt, creditors are circling, and when the numbers finally run out he does the only thing that makes sense to him — he stages a local production of Cyrano de Bergerac. Auffret keeps the film small and unhurried, the way the best French comedies do: the joke is about dignity, not farce. De Tonquédec plays it completely straight, which is exactly why it works.
