Synopsis

Alice (Julia Piaton) runs both the school and the local government of Kerguen — a village small enough that both jobs barely fill one salary. When 60-year-old farmer Emile (Michel Blanc) enrols, wanting to learn to read and write for the first time, her already full days tip toward chaos. He resists every lesson. She keeps showing up. The village has opinions about both of them.
Auffret plays the comedy straight — no mockery of Emile's illiteracy, no triumphant montage, just two stubborn people being obstinate at each other until something shifts.
