Synopsis
Macabre (Rumah Dara, 2009) is an Indonesian–Singaporean horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Directing duo Kimo Stamboel and Timo Tjahjanto — together known as the Mo Brothers — build the film on the simplest of premises: a group of road-trippers gives a stranger a ride and agrees to dinner at her family home.
The house is a trap. Hostess Dara (Shareefa Daanish) and her relatives follow a blood cult, and the guests put that together far too late to do anything useful about it. The film is relentless and uninterested in mercy — claustrophobic in the way that the best home-invasion horror gets, with the exits closing off one by one. This was the picture that put the Mo Brothers on the map in Asian genre cinema before they went on to make Headshot and The Night Comes for Us. Stream Macabre online on iFILM.
