Synopsis
Downton Abbey (2019) is the big-screen continuation of the hit series, a period drama you can watch online on iFILM. The year is 1927, and a letter arrives that sends the whole Crawley household into a flutter: the King and Queen are coming to stay.
Preparing for a royal visit turns Downton upside down. Upstairs, the family frets over gowns, seating and old grievances; downstairs, the staff are scandalized that the stiff royal servants intend to cook and serve in their place, and they quietly plot a rebellion of their own. Running beneath the pageantry is a darker thread — someone means to make an attempt on the King's life. Presiding over it all, as ever, is the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith), armed with one more barbed remark for cousin Isobel.
Nearly the entire television cast returns, including Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, Jim Carter and Elizabeth McGovern.
