Synopsis
Asterix and Cleopatra (Astérix et Cléopâtre, 1968) is a French-Belgian animated feature you can watch online on iFILM — the second Asterix full-length film and the only one directed by the comic's original creators René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo themselves. Cleopatra takes a wager from Julius Caesar: she will build him a magnificent palace in a matter of weeks, proving that Egyptians are anything but the lazy people he thinks they are.
To pull it off she hires the architect Edifis, who recruits the druid Getafix — and that means Asterix and Obelix make the trip to ancient Egypt, magic potion in tow. Caesar is not interested in losing the bet, so sabotage, traps, and an assortment of crocodiles complicate the construction schedule. Roger Carel voices Asterix with the dry wit that became the character's trademark across decades of films and albums.
Because Goscinny and Uderzo were at the helm, the film moves with the rhythm of the source material — sharp gags, visual slapstick, and a pyramid that somehow gets built anyway. Stream Asterix and Cleopatra online on iFILM.
