When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth
Enter an age of unknown terrors, pagan worship and virgin sacrifice...
Synopsis
When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth (1970) is a Hammer prehistoric fantasy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Val Guest drops you a million years back, into a world of cave tribes, smoking volcanoes and giant reptiles. There's almost no English here — the characters speak an invented Stone Age tongue, and the pictures carry the story.
Blonde Sanna (Victoria Vetri) is marked for sacrifice to the Sun god. A solar storm wrecks the ritual, she escapes, and a rival sand tribe takes her in, where a quick young hunter named Tara falls for her. The dark-haired women drive her into the jungle, and there, scrambling to survive, she ends up adopted by a towering dinosaur that treats her like one of its own.
The stop-motion creatures came from Jim Danforth, whose effects earned the film an Oscar nomination. It's pure old-school Hammer: loud, naive, gorgeous to look at. Come for the handmade monsters and the volcanic beaches, not the plot. Fans of pre-CGI dinosaur cinema will eat it up. Stream When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth (1970) online on iFILM.
