Synopsis
Me and You and Everyone We Know (2005) is the feature directorial debut of Miranda July — an American-British indie that you can watch online on iFILM. It picked up the Camera d'Or at Cannes and the Special Jury Prize at Sundance.
Richard (John Hawkes) is going through a divorce and trying to hold his life together while raising two boys. Christine (July herself) makes art no one buys yet and drives an elder-care cab on the side. They meet awkwardly and keep meeting awkwardly. In the background, Richard's seven-year-old son is conducting a surprisingly philosophical online flirtation with a stranger, and his teenage brother is being used as a romantic practice dummy by the girls next door.
July builds the film out of hesitation, miscommunication, and small moments that somehow add up to something tender. It doesn't reach for neatness. The characters are trying to connect and mostly not quite managing it — which turns out to be the whole point. Stream Me and You and Everyone We Know (2005) online on iFILM.
