Offseason

Offseason (2022) is Mickey Keating's mood-soaked horror film you can watch online on iFILM. A strange letter tells Marie that her late mother's grave, on a remote coastal island, has been vandalized. She drives out to see for herself and arrives on the exact day the island shuts down for winter.

The bridge goes up, the ferry pulls away, the phones go dead. Marie is stranded in a half-emptied town where the few locals watch her with slow, wrong smiles. The longer she stays, the clearer it becomes that she was lured here on purpose: fog rolling off the sea, deserted streets, and the dawning sense that the island answers to something, and that something wants payment. Jocelin Donahue carries the picture, with Richard Brake and Melora Walters lending the place its queasy strangeness.

Keating builds dread out of creeping claustrophobia and a Lovecraftian hum from the water rather than cheap jump scares — this one is about atmosphere over gore. It runs a lean 83 minutes and plays like a nightmare you cannot wake from. A good fit for fans of slow island horror in the vein of The Wicker Man. Stream Offseason (2022) online on iFILM.
