Synopsis

Eight years earlier, Anne's family talked her out of marrying Frederick Wentworth, then a poor naval officer with no fortune to his name. He comes back a wealthy captain, half-expected to court a younger cousin, while Anne watches in silence the man she once let slip away. Nobody promised her a second chance.
Shergold shoots Austen smaller and more intimate than most adaptations: close faces, restless handheld camera, and Hawkins saying more with one glance than any speech could.
