The Frozen Ground

The film reconstructs the investigation that unraveled Robert Hansen: an Anchorage baker with a spotless reputation who, by the early 1980s, had been abducting and killing women across the Alaskan wilderness for over a decade.

Alaska State investigator Jack Halcomb is piecing the case together when 17-year-old Cindy Paulson slips away from Hansen's grip and tells her story. Nobody believes her. Cage plays the detective with stubborn patience against Cusack's unsettling normality — a neighbor who competes in hunting tournaments and brings bread to church. Hudgens strips back the glamour to play Cindy as someone exhausted and fighting anyway.
