Synopsis
Channel Zero (2016) is a horror anthology series you can watch online on iFILM. Each season adapts a different Creepypasta story — internet-born horror fiction — into a self-contained six-to-eight-episode arc with its own rules, cast, and dread. Season one, directed by Arkasha Stevenson, follows a child psychologist who goes back to his hometown to understand why children vanished there in the late 1980s, and why those disappearances all happened around the same local TV show.
The show aired. Kids went missing. Nobody could say what was wrong with it. Steven Weber and John Carroll Lynch anchor the first season; later seasons brought in Rutger Hauer and Barbara Crampton. The series moves at a different pace from most streaming horror — it earns its scares through sustained imagery and off-kilter atmosphere rather than jump cuts and loud stings. Several frames from the first season have circulated widely as examples of what TV horror can do visually when it takes its time.
Because each season is a standalone story, there's no wrong place to start. Viewers who find most horror too frantic and underwritten tend to respond to this one. Stream all seasons of Channel Zero online on iFILM.
