Renegade

Renegade (1987) — watch online on iFILM — is an Italian action-comedy western directed by Enzo Barboni, starring Terence Hill as Luke, a cheerful drifter roaming the American Southwest with a Jeep CJ and a chestnut colt named Joe Brown. When his old buddy Moose sends word from jail asking Luke to watch over his teenage son Matt, Luke obliges without thinking too hard about what he's agreeing to.

What Matt needs, it turns out, is help claiming a piece of land Moose bought before ending up behind bars. The problem is that a powerful local lawyer named Lawson — played by Robert Vaughn — has his own ideas about who that land belongs to. Lawson has money, connections, and no patience for strangers. Luke has a horse and a very relaxed attitude toward danger.

Barboni had worked with Terence Hill before, and the dynamic shows: Hill slides into the role effortlessly, all easy confidence and well-timed physical comedy. The film doesn't take itself seriously for a single frame, which is exactly the point. A straightforward, good-natured western that delivers a fistfight and a punchline in roughly equal measure.
