Synopsis

One Italian, one Black. The Fadda family and Loy Cannon's crew sealed their peace the old way — trading youngest sons as living collateral, a ritual repeated across decades. It holds until the Fadda patriarch dies in a hospital bed. Now his sons Josto and the volatile Gaetano are pulling the family in opposite directions, and Loy reads the moment as an opening to rewrite the terms of the deal. Threading through both organizations is Rabbi Milligan, a man who has been passed between families so many times he belongs to none. And then there is Oraetta Mayflower, a nurse with her own private ledger of scores to settle, unaffiliated and quietly dangerous.
