L.A. Law (Seasons 1–8)
The professionals who will take you into the jungles of American justice
Synopsis
L.A. Law (1986) is an NBC legal drama you can watch online on iFILM. Created by Steven Bochco and Terry Louise Fisher, it ran for eight seasons — 171 episodes from 1986 to 1994 — following the lawyers of the Los Angeles firm McKenzie, Brackman, Chaney and Kuzak.
The ensemble — Corbin Bernsen, Harry Hamlin, Jimmy Smits, Blair Underwood, Susan Dey — each carried separate storylines that overlapped without converging. Bochco's signature: no single protagonist, just a web of careers and ambitions inside one firm. The show took on topics that prime-time television largely avoided — AIDS, abortion, sexual harassment, racial discrimination, gay rights — and made them the central drama, not background noise.
Fifteen Emmys over eight seasons, four of them for Outstanding Drama Series. That track record puts it among the most decorated dramas of the era. L.A. Law set a template for the legal genre that shows like The Practice and Suits still draw from today. Stream all seasons of L.A. Law online on iFILM.
