Hidden deep in Africa lie the fabled mines — either untold riches or a deadly curse, depending on who tells the story. No one who went looking has ever come back, and among the missing is the father of spirited Elizabeth. To track him down she drags Quatermain out of retirement, and the reluctant guide heads back into the jungle, where predators, rival European fortune-hunters and an old map all stand in his way.
