Synopsis
Alexandra's Project (2003) is an Australian psychological thriller you can watch online on iFILM. It's Steve's birthday, and he drives home expecting cake, kids and a loving wife. Instead the house is dark and gutted: bulbs missing, exits sealed, and a single videotape on the table marked "Play Me."
He presses play, and the evening becomes a trap. On the tape his wife Alexandra calmly walks him through every grievance she has stored up over the years of their marriage — why she left, where the children are, and what she has arranged for him tonight. Gary Sweet plays a man whose easy confidence drains away frame by frame, while Helen Buday's recorded voice holds him hostage in his own living room.
Director Rolf de Heer confines almost the entire film to one house and one tape, a claustrophobic two-hander with no gunfire and no escape. It's a hard, deeply uncomfortable look at power inside a marriage and the quiet rage that can simmer behind a perfect facade. Not an easy watch. Stream Alexandra's Project (2003) online on iFILM.
