Synopsis
Dead Heat (1988) is an American horror-action comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Mark Goldblatt — best known as an editor on The Terminator and Commando — packed 86 minutes with zombie cops, shady pharmaceutical science, and the kind of practical effects that late-1980s genre filmmaking did on a shoestring.
Detective Roger Mortis (Treat Williams) and his partner Doug Bigelow (Joe Piscopo) are chasing a crew of criminals who keep getting shot and don't stay down. The trail leads to a biotech company running illegal reanimation experiments. Mortis gets killed mid-investigation. His partner drags the body back to the lab, flips the switch, and Mortis walks out — with roughly twelve hours before the process reverses permanently. He spends those twelve hours solving his own murder.
Vincent Price appears in a supporting role, and his casting is basically the film making its genre loyalties clear. This is buddy-cop filmmaking with a corpse as the hero, played more or less straight despite the absurd setup. Stream Dead Heat (1988) online on iFILM.
